During 1995 ~ 2006, we cooperated with many landscaping and scientific research units, such as Institute of Botany of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tianjin Institute of Botany, Beijing Flower Association and Forestry Research Institute of China Academy of Forestry, to study the shade tolerance, saline-alkali tolerance, drought tolerance, cold tolerance and disease resistance of Danish grass.
Observe the anatomical structure of leaves, and determine the photosynthetic characteristics, chlorophyll content and chlorophyll a/b value of leaves. It is believed that Danish grass has a strong ability to utilize weak light, so it can grow well in weak light and is a typical shade plant.
Danish grass has developed fleshy roots and swollen fleshy roots, so it has strong drought tolerance. In areas with precipitation of 200-300mm, it can grow well by natural precipitation.
Danish grass can withstand the extreme low temperature of -35℃. In Beijing, only in June, 5438+ 10 (the lowest temperature-14℃), the root system stopped growing, the leaf water content remained at 66% ~ 70%, and the leaf color remained bright green all year round.
It has been planted in Beijing and its surrounding areas for more than 20 years, and almost no pests and diseases that can affect normal growth or ornamental value have occurred.
On the basis of the above research, Danish grass has been widely popularized in northeast, northwest and north China. In Beijing alone, the promotion area is over 50 million square meters, which has achieved great economic and social benefits. To sum up, on the basis of extensive collection of wild and cultivated plant germplasm resources of Ophiopogon japonicus in Liliaceae, a number of new germplasm of Danish grassland ground cover plants with strong drought resistance, cold resistance, pest resistance and different shade tolerance were screened out after years of planting experiments in multi-climatic zones and multi-site conditions. A perfect technical system of Danish grass propagation and cultivation was established; Completed the large-scale promotion of Danish grass in northeast, northwest and north China.
Danish grass, a shade-tolerant ground cover plant, has increased the allocation level of artificial planting community in the limited urban greening space, which has very important practical and long-term significance for giving full play to the ecological effect of unit green space and improving the urban environment, and has become one of the main choices for urban greening construction.
