"Purgatory" is a typical low-budget film, which was made by the Russians themselves about the first Chechen war. Photographers use realistic techniques to deliberately shoot many tragic scenes that have not been described in previous war films. Chechen mercenaries cut off the heads of Russian soldiers and hung them on rockets to shoot each other; Russian tank men were ordered to crush the bodies of their comrades. There is no declaration of "Don't leave everyone behind" in Black Hawk Down, only choking smoke, infinite hatred and bitter victory.

Blood-stained soil, mutilated bodies and devastated cities all show us the cruelty of war. In the film, the director did not show us the familiar scenes: a large group charged, the soldiers called for Ula, the fragile enemy. Here, we can see untrained soldiers, brutal street fighting, bloody and tragic, throughout the film. Without the commander's strategizing, there would be no meaningless expression of individual heroism, and there would be no contempt for justice and evil. The true performance is the biggest feature of this film, but there are also casual expressions of friendship between comrades in the film.
