The Bauhinia.

It was recognized as the city flower in 1965. Bauhinia is widely planted in Hong Kong and is very popular among the people. The Bauhinia Story:

More than a hundred years ago, Hong Kong residents resisted the British invasion, and countless martyrs bravely sacrificed their lives. After the disaster, a large tomb was built on Kwai Kok Hill to bury those heroes who had sacrificed their lives.

Later, on Guijiao Mountain, there grew a tree with purplish-red flowers that people had never seen before, and it bloomed especially well around the time of the Ching Ming Festival, so the people named it Bauhinia in honor of those who sacrificed their lives.
