It is parasitic on the leaves of soybeans, mung beans, black locusts, acacias and grapevines, and can also harm the growth of these plants.

Mature larvae mostly overwinter in the upper layer of soil at 9-12 cm, and will move to the upper layer in the second spring to start pupation. . The specific time is from mid-June to early July every year, which is the peak period of emergence. After emerging into adults, they can fly in about half an hour. The activities of adults during the day are very covert, and they mostly start to move in the evening. They have strong flying ability, like to eat nectar, and have phototaxis.

3. How to prevent and control

Before planting crops, the soil must be deeply plowed to eliminate the source of the insect. It would be best to change the farming method of soybeans and use interplanting methods to plant rapeseed. When the larvae reach the 4th instar stage, they can be captured manually. Adult insects are phototaxis and can also be trapped and killed using black light lamps. If the pest infestation is serious, it is recommended to spray pesticides.
