Function: (1) Clearing damp-heat: used for dysentery, jaundice, increased leucorrhea, urinary tract infection, hemorrhoid bleeding, skin eczema, etc. caused by damp-heat. Treating dysentery is often combined with Pulsatilla chinensis and Coptis chinensis; Gardenia and wormwood are often used to treat jaundice. (2) Clearing asthenic fire: it is used for syndromes of deficiency of kidney yin and hyperactivity of asthenic fire, such as hot flashes, night sweats, nocturnal emission, etc. It is often used with Anemarrhena asphodeloides. (3) Relieving sore toxin: used for heat toxic sore carbuncle.
