Grapefruit is considered as a natural hybrid of grapefruit and orange. It was discovered on 1750 in Barbados, West India. It is named grapefruit because of its string fruit and sour taste, similar to grapes. Mainly produced in the United States, Israel and Argentina, it is also widely planted in other Latin American and Mediterranean countries, but less planted in China.

Pomelo is large, with a single fruit weighing 200-300g, oblate or highly oblate, and the peel is tightly wrapped and difficult to peel. The pulp is tender and juicy, sour and bitter. The juice yield is generally 40% ~ 50%, and the soluble solid content is 9.5% ~ 1 1.5%. 100 ml fruit juice contains 6.5% ~ 7.5% sugar, 1.4% ~ 1.9% citric acid and 35 ~ 50 mg vitamin, which can be used as fresh food and processed fruit juice, and can also be used as canned orange slices. It has strong adaptability to climate and can be planted in any production area where sweet oranges can be planted. However, it needs high heat and is suitable for cultivation in the south subtropical region. It is easy to be infected with canker and black spot.
