1, seed selection. Before sowing pumpkins, we need to choose the varieties of pumpkins, usually according to the local climate, choose the varieties that are most suitable for local growth, and then screen the seeds. Under normal circumstances, we will choose seeds with full grains, no external scars, no pests and diseases, no mildew and good quality. This kind of seed has higher germination rate and higher later seed setting rate.

2. Seedbed preparation. Pumpkins have no requirements on the soil where they grow, but in order to cultivate strong pumpkin seedlings, we need to prepare seedbeds. Pumpkin seedbeds can be built indoors or outdoors. The size of seedbed is generally prepared according to the planting scale, which is related to the sowing amount of pumpkin. The seedbed should have good air permeability and sufficient fertility, which is conducive to the emergence of seeds. The nutrient soil in the seedbed can be mixed with farmyard manure and loose soil, and then laid with a thickness of 40-50 cm.

3. Seed treatment. We also need to treat the seeds before sowing, which is beneficial to the germination of the seeds. Of course, no treatment is also possible, but the speed of seedling emergence will be slower. First, soak the seeds in warm water and keep stirring. 4. Scientific sowing. Pumpkin seeds are usually sown from the end of February to the beginning of March every year. It is best to seed with carbendazim before sowing to avoid the harm of underground pests to pumpkin seeds. We usually sow seeds by direct seeding. Spread the seeds evenly on the seedbed, and then cover the seeds with a thin layer of nutrient soil. Of course, you can also use drilling, but this is a little more troublesome than live broadcast.

5. Seedling management. After sowing pumpkin, we should pay attention to the temperature and humidity management of seedbed. After sowing, the temperature in the seedbed should be around 18 to 25 degrees, which is beneficial to the emergence of seeds. When more than half of the seeds germinate, the temperature of the seedbed is only about 15 to 20 degrees. It is necessary to keep the seedbed moist during seedling raising. Generally, water should be watered once every seven days, but the amount of water should not be too large, as long as the soil has a certain humidity.
