What do you think of the Korean re-release of Farewell My Concubine?

There is a TOP 250 movie list on Douban, and the Chinese classic "Farewell My Concubine" is ranked second after the best movie of all time, "The Shawshank Redemption", which is the only Chinese movie to win the Cannes Grand Prix.

"Farewell My Concubine" is an adaptation of Li Bihua's novel of the same name, directed by Chen Kaige and starring Leslie Cheung, Zhang Fengyi and Gong Li. The movie recounts actress Cheng Dieyi's dedication to the art of nationalism, which in turn projects the agitation and life caused by the evolution of history and culture in the great era.

Korean theaters will re-release a 4K restored version of "Farewell My Concubine" again this year. To commemorate the 17th anniversary of Zhang's death, the re-release schedule has been adjusted from the previous March 25 to April 1 -- the 17th anniversary of Zhang's death.

In conjunction with the re-release, there is also a stunning poster featuring Leslie Cheung as Cheng Dieyi, with Cheng Dieyi's lowered brow and nodding head, his seemingly calm expression intertwined with the love-hate entanglement of the big time.

This is the third time "Farewell My Concubine" has been publicly released in South Korea. Back in 1993, "Farewell My Concubine" was introduced to South Korean theaters and received positive reviews, and was released again in 2017. And this year's release is a restored 4K HD version.

If you've seen our previous compilation of "Farewell My Concubine" posters you'll know that the 4K re-release poster is exactly the same as the 2017 re-release poster, only the release date has been modified.

In 1994, "Farewell My Concubine" won the Best Foreign Language Film award at the 15th Korean Film Blue Dragon Awards, which made Zhang Guorong the favorite Chinese actor among Korean audiences, and several famous artists had expressed their love for Zhang.

Here's a batch of stills posters to enjoy. In addition to the stills, can you read a kind of poignant beauty from the four calligraphic fonts?
