Sugar-free foods are generally sweetened foods that do not contain sucrose (cane sugar and beet sugar), glucose, and so on. But sugar-free foods should contain alternatives such as sugar alcohols (including xylitol, sorbitol, maltitol, mannitol). Sugar-free foods are eggs, fish, meat, seafood, bamboo shoots, onions, bean sprouts, boletus, mushrooms, fungus, sea vegetables and so on.
Low-sugar foods include grains and some cereal products, and some green vegetables are also low-sugar ingredients. For example, asparagus, bamboo shoots, cabbage, celery, cucumber, eggplant, radish, spinach and other vegetables are low-sugar ingredients. Fruits that are low in sugar are apples, plums, cherries, oranges, and pears. Cereals that are low in sugar are oats, bran and some processed cooked barley. Some mixtures of cream, whole milk and some unprocessed hard cheeses are also low in sugar.
