Ga fish mainly feed on animals in natural conditions, zooplankton in fry stage, insects, larvae, small fish and shrimp, snails and plant debris in adults.
Gayu is a common benthic freshwater fish, which mostly inhabits the shallow water area around the lake with slow water flow and more aquatic plants and rivers entering the lake.
Gayou's body is slender, slightly stout, with a dark brown back and a pale yellow belly, with yellow longitudinal bands above and below the lateral line.
