Pharmacology and toxicology: Cetirizine is the metabolite of hydroxyzine in the human body, animal experiments have proved that cetirizine hydrochloride is a peripheral H1 receptor antagonist, which can inhibit the transmission and action of histamine, and also inhibit vasoactive peptide and P substances involved in the metamorphic reaction to reduce the movement of inflammatory cells, effectively inhibit skin metamorphic reactions. This product can significantly reduce histamine on the airway allergic reaction caused by asthma patients, reduce the allergic reaction caused by specific allergens. It has no significant anticholinergic and anti-5-hydroxytryptamine effects. In clinical studies, cetirizine was found to have dry mouth as a more common side effect than placebo. In vitro receptor binding studies have demonstrated no significant affinity for other H1 receptors. At effective doses, it does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier and does not affect the central nervous system as a side effect.

Acute toxicity: the LD50 of the product in Kunming mice was 758.1mg/kg (95% confidence limit 712.1~806.9mg/kg) when administered orally, and the LD50 of the product in tail vein injection was 131.1mg/kg (95% confidence limit 120.8~142.1mg/kg).
