Pomelo is also called Big Orange in the Guangdong and Guangdong areas, which is homophonic in Cantonese and sounds like great luck. During the Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year, it is often placed on the desk to imply good luck. During festivals, adults often make grapefruit lanterns for children and carve auspicious meanings on them. While talking, children played happily with various beautiful grapefruit lanterns, creating a strong festive atmosphere.
Method/Steps
1/7
Cut off the raised part of the top of the grapefruit flatly.
2/7
Divide the grapefruit peel into five equal parts (it depends on how many characters are engraved, if you carve four characters, divide it into four parts). Be careful not to cut the bottom of the grapefruit with the knife.
3/7
Carefully take out the pulp of the grapefruit with your hands to ensure that the peel of the grapefruit is intact.
4/7
Use a knife to patiently carve out words on the grapefruit peel, being careful not to break the peel. All five pieces of grapefruit peel are engraved with auspicious words.
5/7
Connect five separate pieces of grapefruit peel two by two with toothpicks.
6/7
Use a knife to punch holes in the upper parts of the five grapefruit peels, tie them with red ropes, adjust the lengths of the five ropes to make them the same length, and put in thick red candles. .
7/7
Put on the grapefruit “hat” you cut off at the beginning, and a grapefruit lamp is completed. Let’s light candles and enjoy the moon outdoors!
Notes
Candles that are too thin or too long cannot be fixed at the bottom of the grapefruit. It is best to use short and thick candles.
