Planting time of yacon seeds
Yacon seeds are usually sown from late March to mid-April, because the temperature at this time is very conducive to its growth and germination. When planting, you should choose a pot without holes and fill it with soil. Sprinkle the seeds on the surface of the soil and cover them with plastic film in time. Water them every day and they will germinate in about 3 to 5 days.
Method and technology for plan yacon seeds
1. Take out the fully mature yacon pulp, rub it with your fingers, put the thin pulp into silk stockings and soak it in water for one day. To remove all the pulp from the seeds, just leave the seeds and dry them.
After the seeds are completely dried, you can sow. When planting, directly sow seeds on the soil surface, spray water in time after sowing, and cover with plastic wrap. It will sprout and take root in about a week. Pay attention to open the plastic wrap and water it once a day.
Matters needing attention in sowing yacon
1. Because the plant support of yacon is poor, it needs some support to help it grow. When it grows to about 1.5 meters, it is best to put a shelf around it. When the lateral branches grow too much, they should be pulled out in time to avoid overlapping branches, which is not conducive to the growth of fruit trees.
2. Yacon has a great demand for fertilizer. First of all, the base fertilizer must be sufficient, so that it can grow normally in the later stage. Generally speaking, about 15 kg of fertilizer and 1 kg of lime should be put in the pit of each fruit tree in the orchard.
3. The growth process of yacon needs strict water and fertilizer. First of all, watering is a problem, and its root system is shallow. When watering, it is best to increase irrigation on the root system to avoid insufficient water absorption.
