1, depending on the season, determine the cage position: the climate is mild in spring, and most eels live in the wintering area, so the eel cage should be placed where aquatic plants germinate; In summer, the temperature is high, eels are active and foraging vigorously, so eel cages should be placed where food can be found; When the water level drops in autumn, Monopterus albus usually burrows in places rich in aquatic plants to prepare for hibernation, so the cage of Monopterus albus should be placed in places with dense aquatic plants.
2, look at the weather to determine the location of the cage: when the weather is hot, eels often live in the shade to escape the heat; When the weather is cool, Monopterus albus likes to look for food in white water at night. So the position of the cage should be flexibly determined according to the cold and warm weather.
3. Look at the wind direction to determine the cage position: Monopterus albus is afraid of waves. When water is beating, it will never come out of the hole. Therefore, when the south wind blows, the eel cage should be applied on the south slope; When the north wind blows, the eel cage should be applied on the north slope.
4. Determine the position of the cage according to the depth of the water: if the water in the whole pool is deep, the cage should be suitable for shallow water; If the water in the whole pond is shallow, eel cages should be used in deep water.
5, look at the current to determine the cage position: Monopterus albus is afraid of rapids. But in order to find food, they often lurk in still water next to running water and wait for food. Therefore, the cage should be placed in still water in running water; When there are no waves in the whole pond, Monopterus albus likes to move in the micro-flow for reasons such as foraging and oxygen selection. Therefore, eel cages should be placed in still water to trap eels. When catching eels in microflow, it is best to use eel cages in still water on both sides of microflow.
6, look at the food source to determine the location of the cage: some ditches and ponds have many small fish and shrimp, and the food source conditions are good. Monopterus albus growing in this environment mostly chooses to move silently; However, the food source conditions in some ponds and ditches are extremely poor. In order to survive, Monopterus albus looks for food in noisy places where people and animals move. Therefore, the position of the cage should be determined flexibly according to the quality of food source conditions.
7. Determine the cage position according to the water level: Monopterus albus is used to going out of the hole when the water rises and lurking in the hole when it falls into the water. Catching eels in cages means catching "ups" rather than "downs". To sum up, the position of the cage should be flexibly determined according to the habits and activities of the eel in order to facilitate accurate trapping. From the end of May to the beginning of June every year, Monopterus albus is the most active period. In addition, the activities of Monopterus albus are also very frequent on the eve of rainstorm and flood season, which is a good opportunity for trapping.
Please note the following two points:
1. Put stinky earthworms in a cage with bamboo sticks to trap them. Monopterus albus likes to eat stinky earthworms, and loach will also enter the cage.
2. Get out of the cage at five or six o'clock in the evening and get out of the cage at five or six o'clock the next morning. It is too late for Monopterus albus to die of suffocation due to lack of oxygen.
