The scallop (English name: Scallop) is an animal of the family Scallopidae of the order Pinctada. Its appearance is shell fan-shaped, but the butterfly hinge line is straight, the butterfly hinge of the ends of the wing-like protruding; size of about 2.5 ~ 15 centimeters (1 ~ 6 inches) or more; the shell is smooth or have radial ribs, ribs smooth, scaly or verrucose, color bright red, purple, orange, yellow to white; lower shell color is lighter, smoother; there is a large closed-shell muscle. [1] It is found in all oceans of the world, inhabiting shallow waters from the low tide zone to several hundred meters or so, living attached or free, and feeding mainly on mayfly algae.
