You can hold yam for a while, depending on the weather. The warmth can be shorter. Anyway, if you hold it loose, the fresh yam skin will feel warm, and the stale yam palms will sweat. If tiny water drops ooze from the epidermis, it means that such yam has been frozen. The nutritional value will be reduced and the taste will not be very good.
