The term "ratfish" actually refers to a marine fish called the "greenfin horseface", which is a member of the "skinning fish" family. Ratfish Origin

Ratfish live on the bottom of the outer sea. It lives at depths of fifty to one hundred and twenty meters. The optimum temperature for the fish is between thirteen and twenty degrees Celsius. The best temperatures are between fourteen and seventeen degrees Celsius. The Ratfish is a schooling fish.

The ratfish was originally found mainly in the western Pacific Ocean. In China, it is mainly found in the East China Sea, the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea. Among these three seas, the East China Sea produces the largest amount of fish. Although it is the same ratfish, but because of the differences in climate, temperature, environment and other different factors, resulting in ratfish abundance appears in different months.

In places where the temperature is higher and the climate is warmer, such as the fishing grounds in eastern Fujian, off the coast of Wen-Taiwan, and in places like the Tsushima Strait, the period of abundance of ratfish is from December to March of the following year.

In the fishing grounds of the Diaoyu Islands, ratfish are available in large quantities from March to May each year. In the central and northern parts of the Yellow Sea and the southern part of the Bohai Sea, the fish is abundant from April to October. Because of the similar climatic conditions, the production of guppies in Zhoushan fisheries and fisheries outside Zhoushan reaches its peak in May and June.
