Another name for the next Yuan Festival: What is the next Yuan Festival called?
October 15th of the lunar calendar is called the Xiayuan Festival, and the Xiayuan Festival for ancestor worship is also called Xiayuan Day, Xiayuan Birthday and Xiayuan Shuiguan Festival.
The origin of the next Yuan Festival is related to Taoism. There are three Taoist officials, namely, the celestial official, the local official, the water official and heavenly god blesses the people. The local official forgives sins and the water official relieves Eritrea. Sanyuan is another name for the three officials. The three great officials were respectively corresponding to Yao, Shun and Yu. Therefore, the Xiayuan Shuiguan was also the famous King Dayu for water control.
The next Yuan Festival is also recorded in ancient books. There is a cloud in "Records of Chinese Customs": October is the next Yuan Festival, when the custom spreads to the water palace to solve the problem, and there are also people who hold fast and recite scriptures. On this day, Taoist temples were used as Dojo, while the people offered sacrifices to the dead, and prayed to the water officials of the Yuan Dynasty to solve problems. Later, it evolved into a day when people sacrificed their ancestors and remembered them.
The birth dates of the three officials are the fifteenth day of the first month, the fifteenth day of July and the fifteenth day of October in the lunar calendar. These three days are called Shangyuan Festival, Zhongyuan Festival and Xiayuan Festival.
Shangyuan Festival, also known as Shangyuan Tianguan Festival, is the birthday of Emperor Ziwei who was blessed by Shangyuan. The Mid-Yuan Festival, also known as the Mid-Yuan Official Festival, is the birthday of Qing Xu, the official who pardoned sins in the Mid-Yuan Dynasty. Xiayuan Festival, also known as Xiayuan Shuiguan Festival, is the birthday of Emperor Dong Yin, the Shuiguan of Xiayuan.
When people are alive, it is inevitable that they will encounter hardships. The common people all attach great importance to the magical power of the Emperor Shui Guan to solve the difficulties. Therefore, on the next Yuan Festival, people offered sacrifices to their ancestors and greeted the Emperor Shui Guan, in order to get relief from hardship and peace of life.
