What Winds and Clouds of Chaoshan in theaters September 9th, 2021

The film "Chaoshan Wind and Cloud" is adapted from the young writer Zheng Zhonghai's long novel "Chaoshan Smoke and Rain", produced by Tian Jun, scripted by Zheng Zhonghai, directed by Jiang Ya, and starring Wang Yu, Chen Tingwei, Zhu Tiehe, Lili Fang, Li Shuhao, Wen Xi, Huang Yiyi, and Shangguan Xiyi in September 9th, 2021, and was released on September 9th, 2021, in theaters nationwide.

The film tells the story of Guo Xiaomei (Wang Yu), the heir to the A-Ma Jade Statue of Ferry Village, who is chivalrous and skilled in martial arts. In order to get the A-Ma Jade Statue, the fisherman's bully, Huang Tianzhong (Zhu Tiehe), sets fire to the fishing boats of Ferry Village, forcing the fishermen to the brink of extinction.

Lin Tao Zai (Chen Ting Wei), a member of a prestigious family, begs for his son Lin Ming Yi (Wen Xi) to marry Guo Xiao Mei, who has to marry into the Lin family in order to rescue the fishermen, in order to save his mother and flush out his happiness.

On the night of the wedding, Lin Mingyi, a playboy who did not want to get married, collaborated with the bandits to kidnap himself, but was tricked by Huang Tianzhong, who bribed the bandits to come up with a fake show. In order to rescue her new husband, Guo Xiaomei broke into the bandit's lair, and with her courage and ingenuity, she finally subdued the bandits, defeated Huang Tianzhong, and rescued her husband.

"Chaoshan Fung Yun" reflects the original taste of Chaoshan

"Chaoshan Fung Yun" shows the architecture and humanities of Chaoshan, and demonstrates a series of elements of Chaoshan folk culture such as Chaoshan old houses, Teochew opera, Yingge Dance, and so on; in order to truly restore the life of the Chaoshan area, the creators of the movie not only set up a scene to shoot the film in the Chaoshan area but also selected more than 3,000 Chaoshan people to be the main characters. The movie creators not only shot the whole movie on location in Chaoshan, but also chose more than 3,000 Chaoshan people to act in the movie.

"Chaoshan Fung Yun" is a period drama, and Chaoshan has very strong regional characteristics. Therefore, the whole movie has to pursue 'authenticity' and the details are very strict. We want to restore the era of the Republic of China, not only the scenes, but also the characters. In the process of presentation, the teachers of the art team did a lot of homework and research, what I remember most is that we searched the whole Chaoshan area and couldn't find any satisfactory villages, and in the end, it was a small hillside that took a lot of effort to transform into a fishing village." Director Jiang Ya said.
