Shanju was originally an ordinary residential building in Huizhou
It was located in a secluded mountain village in southern Anhui
The building was on the highest mountain in the village
It has not been inhabited for more than ten years
So its surroundings are covered with weeds and shrubs
It occupies a small area and is in ruins
This old house is not broken little by little
Only the walls are left

During the design transformation,
the floor space was increased
to form a wider activity. On the basis of the original building, the living space
is also raised to two floors
and a curved form is introduced
to form a patchwork continuous curved surface
The four-span space in the east-west direction
The first span from the east to the south is used as the living room lobby
The first span and the partially broken wall spread horizontally form the courtyard space
and the glass viewing platform on the second floor
crosses the original building on the west side. To the west, the mountain and the created landscape are
incorporated into the semi-open space under the eaves
In this way, On the whole south facade,
it forms a contemporary mosaic picture in the traditional context.
Corridor space is also the main internal activity space of the building.
It is made up of a series of old and new walls.
Residents enter the living room from the outdoor steps through the corridor space.
Family gatherings and activities are held here.
Local vacant spaces are selected for better public interests. Sex and vision
then to the right to the semi-outdoor terrace
overlooking the mountains or the whole village
to the left to the more private dining space and the corresponding kitchen
atrium space as the core of the whole plane layout
completed the attribute transformation from the original building indoor space to the new building indoor space
the original walls and old doors on the south side were preserved
showing respect for the original memory. The whole building adopts the construction method of on-site steel structure
and realizes the twin curved roof under limited technical conditions
The old bricks removed from the original wall are preserved one by one
The new foundation and the main steel structure are rebuilt in situ after the construction
The new wall and the old brick masonry are alternately spliced
to form a harmonious and unified relationship
On the one hand, it responds to the local culture
On the other hand, it reflects the sustainable ecology.
