Teahouse culture, from the beginning, is full of gossip. As early as the Song and Yuan Dynasties, teahouses appeared and gained popularity in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Dashilan outside Qianmen, Beijing, was a folk gathering center before the renovation, operating tea, shops and restaurants. It is said that its predecessor was Gong Bing Club in Manchuria Banner. As long as people who enter the teahouse, whether you wear a top hat or a coarse blouse, must put down their status and treat each other as equals. Teahouses sell not only tea, but also cakes, snacks, cooked food, cooking, shochu and, of course, a very cheap big bowl of jasmine tea.
Teahouses provide a rare place for equal communication. There is such a teahouse in Ping 'an yuanjiacun at the eastern end of the ancient city of Xining. On the right hand side of the door is a red brick stove. In the back hall, the tea is ready. The waiter filled the copper pot with tea and sent it to the fire. Then the old man by the fireside pulled the bellows and kept it warm with red-hot carbon blocks. This old chap is an elegant and carefree man. He has mastered the skill of making tea. The most interesting thing is that his dark complexion is like black tea, which blends with copper pots and tea soup.
Walking into the teahouse, the heavy solid wood tables and chairs were painted ebony, emitting ancient fragrance. Three-bubble table with big cover bowl, or coarse mud bowl, 15 yuan one, and you can drink as much tea as you like. My wife and I asked for two pottery bowls and paid two yuan more for melon seeds. After being seated, the waiter greeted other businesses. Unlike the old teahouse, the waiter must have "eyesight", take the initiative to make tea and pour water for the guests, and must not neglect anyone. There is a stage in front of the teahouse, singing pingxian. Everyone in the audience was chatting and playing cards with melon seeds, and the noisy sound pressure knocked Pingxian down. The family at the next table drinks tea and plays cards. The old man takes things very seriously. After each card is played, he will supervise the younger generation to write down the winning or losing on the paper. The one-dollar card is playing more and more seriously. We've just been listening and watching. It's been half an hour. Because of the head-up between people, everything feels more intimate and lively.
When I opened my eyes the next day, I seemed to be still drinking tea in the teahouse.
