Hongkou Football Stadium, a multi-functional and comprehensive venue for sports activities with a professional soccer field on the original site of Hongkou Stadium with a glorious history of 46 years, was planned by Japan's RIA Design Office, and deepened by Shanghai Architectural Design & Research Institute (SADRI), which is responsible for the construction design. The rational architectural structure and flexible spatial treatment ensure that the spectator stand can maintain an unobstructed and good sight line. Hongkou Football Stadium is adjacent to Lu Xun Park in the east and connected to the East Station of the elevated light rail line Pearl III in the west, and is hidden in the greenery, blending in with the surrounding elegant humanistic environment. The whole stadium occupies an area of 5.6 hectares, with a total construction area of 72,557 square meters, 35,000 seats for spectators, 47 boxes, 3,045 square meters of VIP rooms and 11,840 square meters of development and operation rooms. In addition to holding high-level international and domestic soccer matches, Hongkou Football Stadium also features a full range of sports and entertainment facilities such as indoor swimming pools, ping-pong rooms, billiard rooms, a soccer shooting range and other modern facilities such as matching restaurants, beauty saunas and shopping malls.
