McDonald's has started to recruit retirees. Is the catering industry aging?
I don't think so. This is just an example. Moreover, there are some recruitment details worthy of attention, such as the need for retirement certificates, low wages, working hours and so on.

When I was browsing the news yesterday, I saw a report about the recruitment of waiters in McDonald's in Beijing. According to the report, "a McDonald's in Beijing can recruit retirees as waiters, requiring women to be over 50 years old and men to be over 60 years old (retirement certificates are required), and implementing flexible working system, working 4 to 5 days a week and 4 to 8 hours a day, with a monthly salary of 1800/3500 yuan."

Then, I also talked about it in the process of chatting with friends around me. Friends think this move may mean that the catering industry will gradually step into the ranks of "aging" with the aging of society. But in my opinion, this may not be the case. It is a way of "bringing the old with the new", saving costs and meeting actual needs.

Hiring retired people to work at McDonald's is not a charitable act of any enterprise. First of all, there is a detail that needs attention, that is, candidates need to have a retirement certificate. Having a retirement certificate shows that this person has rich work experience and generally works in a slightly larger enterprise or institution. Such people can basically take part in the work directly after simple training, which can save costs and energy for enterprises.

At the same time, these retirees can also bring "new people" and provide them with some experience. And their treatment requirements are not high, just two or three thousand yuan a month. Because the purpose of their work may not only be to make money, but also to enrich their life after retirement.

That's my grandfather. He can't adapt to the life without a job after retirement, but he can't do high-intensity work. After all, he is old. In the end, he found a job as a community security guard, taking a rest of 2000 yuan a month. His work is not only hard, but also particularly "passionate".

In addition, McDonald's recruitment of the elderly is also in line with the nature of the catering industry itself. Because the catering industry does not need continuous work, especially fast food restaurants like McDonald's. Under normal circumstances, there will be more people at the meal time (7:00 am, 1 1, 12pm, and 6- 10pm in the afternoon), and there is no need for too many people at other times. Recruiting too many full-time staff is a waste of "human resources".

One more thing, I think it is more important that retirees don't have to buy basic insurance, which saves a lot of money. Therefore, we can't see this news and say that the catering industry is aging. McDonald's does this for its own needs.

This practice is actually not a good thing for us young people. At present, affected by epidemic situation, international war and other factors, the economic decline is serious and employment is difficult. Some young people, especially college students, are facing the dilemma of "adventure island". If retirees come out to grab young people's jobs at this time, it will increase the pressure of job competition and make their job search more difficult.

It is indeed a kind of social welfare for the elderly to exert their waste heat, but we should also fully consider the social environment, not squeeze the living space of young people, and learn to build harmonious interpersonal relationships.
