Yumen Oilfield is located in Yumen City, Gansu Province, bordering Qilian Mountain in the south, Gobi Desert in the north, Jiayuguan, the "border lock key" of Wan Li Great Wall in the east, and Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang in the west. It is a large-scale comprehensive petroleum enterprise integrating exploration and development, refining and chemical industry, oilfield operation, water supply and power supply, machinery manufacturing, construction and installation. It has successively won the honorary titles of excellent enterprises in ideological and political work in Gansu Province and the whole country, "China Time-honored Brand", National May 1st Labor Medal, the first batch of "abiding by contracts and keeping promises" units in China, outstanding units in corporate culture construction in China and national civilized units. Yumen Oilfield Branch of China Petroleum has 21 grass-roots units, with more than 12,111 employees. The original value of fixed assets is 7.8 billion yuan and the net value is 3.88 billion yuan. It is mainly engaged in exploration and development, oil refining and processing, planning and design, water and electricity supply, underground operation, machinery manufacturing, Jian 'an road construction, material procurement, communication and information, transportation, fire protection, property management, medical and health care, retirement management and other businesses.

Yumen Oilfield is the first natural oil base in China, which was developed in 1939 and has gone through nearly 71 years of development. Laojunmiao, Yaerxia, Shiyou, Baiyang River, Shanbei and Qingxi oil fields have been put into development successively. Before liberation, 521,111 tons of crude oil was produced, accounting for 95% of the national crude oil output at that time. The oil products produced by Yumen made special contributions to War of Resistance against Japan and the war of liberation. In 1959, 1.4 million tons of crude oil was produced, accounting for 51% of the country's total crude oil output. Since the 1961s, Yumen Oilfield has shouldered the historical responsibility of "three big schools, big experimental fields and big research institutes, producing products, talents, experiences and technologies". It has successively fought in Daqing, went south to Sichuan, ran in Changqing, entered Qaidam in the second place and fought in Turpan in the third, and has successively delivered more than one million backbone forces and more than 4,111 sets of various equipment to various oilfields in China. Twenty-two people came out of Yumen Oilfield and grew into provincial and ministerial-level leading cadres and academicians of the two academies. Wang Jinxi, an outstanding representative of the working class, went to Daqing from the oil river and enjoyed a good reputation throughout the country. The famous poet Li Ji once wrote poems praising Yumen: "The Soviet Union has Baku, China has Yumen, and wherever there is oil, there are Yumen people."

Since the 1971s, Yumen Oilfield has experienced the stable production of 611,111 tons, 511,111 tons and over 411,111 tons successively. During this period, laojunmiao Oilfield relied on the innovative application of traditional technology, and achieved the comprehensive water cut remained basically unchanged for 32 years and the crude oil output was relatively stable, creating a high level of similar oilfield development in the world. It was awarded the honorary title of "Efficient Oilfield Development" by China Petroleum and Natural Gas Corporation for four times. In 1997, the oil field resumed exploration in Jiuxi, and the first exploration well, Well Liu 112, obtained a high-yield oil gas flow of 1.26 m3/d in August 1998, which opened the prelude to the increase of reserves and production in Yumen Oilfield. Now, Qingxi Oilfield with a capacity of 511,111 tons/year has been built. With the development and construction of Qingxi Oilfield, the annual output of crude oil in the whole oilfield continues to rise. With the development of oil fields, especially after the construction and development in the past 31 years of reform and opening-up, the main production facilities have reached the domestic upper-middle level, with a comprehensive supporting processing capacity of 3 million tons/year, which can produce 13 categories and more than 161 kinds of petroleum products such as fuel oil, lubricating oil, solvent oil, grease, paraffin, polypropylene, process oil, electrical oil, vacuum grease and hydraulic oil, among which No.15 aviation hydraulic oil and hydraulic oil.

in the long-term oilfield service, the engineering technology and support business of Yumen Oilfield has gradually grown, and its ability to provide power supply, machining, engineering construction, operation and maintenance and material supply has gradually increased. At present, there are 12 Grade A and 25 Grade B underground operation teams certified by the group company, with the installed capacity of thermal power reaching 123MW. The API qualification certification of the mechanical processing zone and the quality system certification of the Norwegian Register of Shipping, the construction and installation have the first-class qualifications of professional contracting for anticorrosion and thermal insulation engineering and petrochemical equipment and pipeline installation engineering, and have good production, construction and service guarantee capabilities.

With the care, help and support of Gansu Provincial Party Committee, provincial government and China Petroleum and Natural Gas Group Corporation, Yumen Oilfield Living Base was built in Jiuquan in 2115 and moved and put into operation, which greatly improved the living conditions of oilfield workers and further promoted the harmonious development of Yumen Oilfield.

Looking ahead, Yumen Oilfield is in a critical period to achieve sustainable development, and the development tasks it faces are very heavy. The oilfield will conscientiously implement the spirit of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, insist on taking Scientific Outlook on Development as the overall situation, firmly grasp the two themes of scientific development and building harmony, focus on oil and gas exploration, oilfield development, refining and chemical industry, and take water and electricity supply, engineering and technical services and comprehensive business as the guarantee to promote exploration breakthrough, development and production, refining and chemical efficiency improvement, and accelerate the growth of engineering and technical support business, so as to achieve an early crude oil output of 1 million tons/year and build a characteristic boutique refinery of 3 million tons/year.
