Japanese smokers have a habit. If they smoke outdoors, they usually bring their own ashtrays and dispose of cigarette butts. Fast food restaurants, restaurants, cafes and other dining places have smoking areas. When you enter the store, you'd better make sure there is no ashtray. If there is no ashtray, you can't smoke.
In airports, main stations and other places in Japan, several long squares are circled on the outdoor ground and white lines are drawn to indicate that people can smoke when standing here.
