Free accommodation for connecting flights
There are generally two kinds of free accommodation at the airport.
The first type is the airline company, because the need for connecting flights, it is likely to arrive the first night and fly early the next day, which will result in accommodation. There are some reliable airline companies that will help consumers cover this expense.
And the other is airports, some of which offer free transit hotels. The good thing about airports offering this is that you don't need to be on the same carrier for your front and back trips.

Spring Airlines
Spring Airlines offers free accommodations, lounges, and meals at several of its larger bases for connecting flights. It's somewhat surprising that a low-cost airline would think of something so thoughtful.
For example, if you want to fly to Northwest China at low cost, connecting through Lanzhou is undoubtedly appropriate. Especially for the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, such as those who want to go to Dunhuang, Jiayuguan, no connecting flights and almost no direct flights. Even a connecting flight to Xinjiang through Da Chun Airlines is good.
Spring's connecting benefits in Lanzhou are still good.
For example, if your flight lands at Lanzhou airport at a time that happens to fall within the three meal periods, before 8:30, 11:00-12:30, and 17:00-18:30, you can receive a free meal coupon when you check in at the transfer counter at Lanzhou airport. Spring and Autumn Lanzhou transit manages meals.

In fact, this is just a case. Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Xiamen Airlines ...... Transit time, 8 hours ≤ connecting time ≤ 48 hours, and transit passengers in Guangzhou can apply for free transit accommodation on the official website of China Southern Airlines. The hotels are divided into four classes ABCD, corresponding to different classes and levels of membership.
Wuhan, Shenzhen and Dalian also have free transit accommodation, but you need to call the local counter to make a reservation.
I'm not going to give you any examples of other carriers, but if you have a need, just go to their websites and look for connecting services.
The free transit accommodations are subject to change, so be sure to check before you travel.
Airports
Free transit accommodations offered by airports are especially common at some non-mainstream transit airports. In my understanding, it's because these airports want to steal business, so they use free transfer accommodations to boost their core competencies.
Shijiazhuang Airport
Transit passengers arriving at Shijiazhuang Airport on either flight and transferring to either flight, and the connection between the first and second flight segments is limited to the following day.
Reservations must be made 1 day in advance by phone (0311-96360.)
Shijiazhuang Airport is also considered a base for Dachunghuang Airlines in the north, with most connecting flights to the northeast.
Xi'an Xianyang Airport
All overnight transit passengers with a stay of 6 to 48 hours at Xianyang Airport are entitled to one night's free accommodation.
All transit passengers are entitled to free meals during lunch and dinner hours (11:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 19:00).
All air-to-air transit passengers can enjoy one round-trip free bus service from the airport to downtown.
Reservations can be made on the WeChat public number "Western Airport Travel". It's a good deal, because in addition to a free overnight hotel, the bus will take you around downtown Xi'an.
Xi'an is also the place for connecting flights to the Northwest. For example, there are few direct flights to Zhongwei, but it's easy to connect through Xi'an.
Chongqing Jiangbei Airport
Transit on the same day gives food coupons, free luggage storage, and a transit lounge.
For overnight transfers, free hotel vouchers are available, but you need to book at least 24 hours in advance. You can make an appointment directly through Chongqing Fly public number, which is located in the "Yuyue Transit" section of the website.

Changsha Huanghua Airport
If you want to go to Zhangjiajie, it's a good idea to transfer through Changsha. Changsha airport has the "Changzhang Express" which is Zhangjiajie=Changsha=all over the country.

Wuhan is considered to be one of the more central points in China, so north and south can transfer through Wuhan, as well as east and west.
On the public website of Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, you can book a free overnight hotel.
And the conscience of Wuhan airport is that you can apply for either air-to-air transfer or air-to-rail transit. To go is a transfer time in the middle of 6-48 hours and 2 natural days.
And if you're an air-rail transit, there's a free air-rail connection offered.
These are some of the airports that are relatively well known and have some demand for connecting flights.
There are many more airports that offer free connecting flights, but in my opinion most of the airports that do offer free connecting flights don't have a lot of connecting flight demand (e.g. Guilin, Hohhot, Guiyang, etc.).
A good way to do this is to search for these airports directly on their WeChat or official websites, which will basically provide detailed information.
Of course, some of the mainstream airports such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, you don't want the airport to provide free transit accommodation, which is almost impossible. If they did, the hotels on the side of the airport that are open for business would be jumping up and down.
My solution for these connecting airports is to stock up on room vouchers in advance.
