Orfila High-tech Industrial Development Zone (formerly Wuhu Machinery Industry Development Zone) was established in the beginning of 200 1. It was named Wuhu Machinery Industry Development Zone and Anhui Xinwu Economic and Technological Development Zone. 20 12 was approved by the provincial government as "Orfila High-tech Industrial Development Zone" in April. Located in the eastern suburb of Wuhu City and the county seat of Wuhu County, it is the combination point of the development strategy of "along the border" (along Zhejiang and Jiangsu) and "along the river" planned by Anhui Province. At the beginning of 20 10, the State Council was officially approved and implemented as the core area of Wanjiang City Belt to undertake industrial transfer demonstration zone, belonging to "National Economic and Technological Development Zone" and "China High-tech Industrial Development Zone".

Orfila Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone is characterized by equipment manufacturing, and has formed five industrial clusters, namely, new energy equipment, complete sets of equipment, various machine tools, auto parts and electronic and electrical basic parts. Since the 11th Five-Year Plan, the Development Zone has been awarded the National Automobile Parts Export Processing Base, Anhui Numerical Control Equipment Manufacturing (Wuhu) Base, Anhui Wuhu Machinery Private Science and Technology Park, provincial and municipal SME Entrepreneurship Base and Anhui Innovation Park.
