Beijing is located at longitude 115.7°-117.4°E, latitude 39.4°-41.6°N, and centered at latitude 39°54′20″N, longitude 116°25′29″E, with a total area of 16,410.54 square kilometers. It is located in the northern part of the North China Plain, adjacent to the Bohai Bay, up against the Liaodong Peninsula and down against the Shandong Peninsula.
