Termites that harm agricultural and forestry crops and dam embankments in China are mainly Odontotermes and Macrotermes. Because the nest of soil termites is buried deeper, the structure is more complicated and the harm is greater. Among them, Odontotermesformosanus(Shiraki) is the most widely distributed and seriously harmful.
The technical basis of nest location judgment methods: mud is covered with mud lines, fly holes are divided, grass and soil are shoveled, ditches are cut off, induced piles (piles) are set up, fungus indicators are used, steel cones are used to locate nests, nests are found by radioisotopes, and termites' nests are detected by ground penetrating radar, etc.
Control methods: artificial digging of nests, fumigant poisoning, injecting liquid medicine and mud, spraying mire powder, and throwing poison bait.
After the black-winged soil termites were exterminated on the soil dams, it was very different from the forest areas and agricultural areas. Although the ant infestation has been eliminated, the ant paths, cavities and nests formed by termite activities still exist, which is still a great hidden danger on the dam. Grouting and backfilling earthwork must be taken for re-treatment, so as to ensure the safety of dams.
