Both the business climate index and the entrepreneur confidence index come from the business climate survey conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics.
The business environment survey is a quarterly survey of institutions. The survey covers industry, construction, transportation, warehousing and postal services, wholesale and retail, real estate, social services, information transmission, computer services and software, accommodation and catering. The survey adopts a combination of key surveys and sampling surveys, and selects nearly 20,000 sample enterprises of different industries, different scales and different types of registration. The survey objects are corporate enterprises and the heads of industrial activity units according to the statistics of corporate units.
The enterprise prosperity survey adopts the method of questionnaire survey, and through quantifying and sorting out the judgment results of entrepreneurs on the current macroeconomic environment and micro-business situation, the prosperity index is obtained, which is used to comprehensively reflect the macroeconomic development, the prosperity of enterprise production and operation and the future development trend.
Business climate index and entrepreneur confidence index have the advantages of wide coverage and strong comprehensiveness, but the disadvantage is that they are not as sensitive as manufacturing purchasing managers index (PMI), because PMI only reflects the changes of manufacturing industry in the current month, while business climate index and entrepreneur confidence index reflect the average changes of major industries within three months.
