The General Office of the Ministry of Commerce issued the Notice on Further Strengthening the Control of Plastic Pollution in Commercial Fields, announcing the phased task of banning plastic and limiting plastic, requiring that by the end of 2022, star-rated hotels, hotels and other places nationwide will no longer provide disposable plastic products on their own initiative. By the end of 2025, the scope of implementation will be extended to all hotels, hotels and homestays. By the end of 2025, the use of non-degradable disposable plastic tableware will be prohibited in catering services in built-up areas of counties, and the consumption intensity of non-degradable disposable plastic tableware in catering and take-away areas in cities above prefecture level will drop by 30%.
