National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai)
The National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai) is built by the Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai Municipal Government, and invested and operated by Shanghai Expo, Ltd. with a total floor area of 1,470,000 square meters, with 400,000 square meters of indoor exhibition halls and 100,000 square meters of outdoor exhibition halls, a supporting 150,000 square meters of commercial center, 180,000 square meters of office facilities and 60,000 square meters of office facilities. It has a total construction area of 1.47 million square meters, with 400,000 square meters of indoor exhibition halls and 100,000 square meters of outdoor exhibition halls, supported by 150,000 square meters of commercial center, 180,000 square meters of office facilities and 60,000 square meters of five-star hotels. The National Convention and Exhibition Center (NCEC) is located in the western part of the core area of Hongqiao Business District in Shanghai, with a straight-line distance of only 1.5 kilometers from the Hongqiao Transportation Hub, and is closely connected to the Hongqiao High Speed Railway Station and the Hongqiao Airport through the subway. The surrounding highway network is well-connected, and all important cities in the Yangtze River Delta can be reached within 2 hours, making transportation convenient.
The National Convention and Exhibition Center consists of four major parts, namely, exhibition venues, supporting commercial centers, supporting office buildings and supporting hotels, which are linked together through the Convention and Exhibition Avenue located at an elevation of 8 meters, so that all kinds of people can conveniently traverse the venues for exhibitions, commercial, office buildings and hotels. Area and Supporting Facilities
The National Convention and Exhibition Center has a total exhibition area of 500,000 square meters, including 400,000 square meters of indoor exhibition halls and 100,000 square meters of outdoor exhibition halls. The indoor exhibition halls are composed of 13 large exhibition halls with an area of 28,800 square meters per unit, and 3 small exhibition halls with an area of 0.970 square meters per unit, which are accessible by trucks directly to the exhibition halls. The four large exhibition halls and one small exhibition hall in the north part of the first floor have a floor loading of 5T/m2 and are equipped with sufficient electric power. Except for one large exhibition hall with a double-storey structure, the rest of them are single-storey exhibition halls without columns, which are especially suitable for holding heavy-duty and industrial exhibitions; the four large exhibition halls in the south part of the first floor have a floor loading of 3.5T/m2 and a column network of 27x36 meters, with a net height of 11 meters; the five large exhibition halls and two small exhibition halls in the second floor have a floor loading of 1.5T/m2, with a column network of 27x36 meters, and a net height of 11 meters. The five large exhibition halls and two small exhibition halls on the second floor have a floor loading of 1.5T/m2, a column network of 36x54 meters, and an average clear height of about 16 meters, which can also meet the needs of most exhibitions. The exhibition halls are surrounded by adequate conference facilities, consisting of more than 60 conference halls of different sizes, which can organize conferences ranging from dozens of people to 3,000 people.
The interior of the NCCEC is designed with an advanced transportation system that separates people and vehicles from each other, separates people and goods from each other, and creates its own transportation system between each industry to ensure the safety of exhibition setup, show withdrawal and daily traffic.
The supporting commercial center is located in the central position of the building, which is connected to the exhibition halls and can also be directly reached through the subway, and is equipped with meeting rooms, VIP rooms, consulting desks and other exhibition service facilities, and also combines various kinds of food and beverage, recreation and entertainment, display and marketing, boutique stores and other functions, which not only provides supporting services for the exhibition, but also extends the effect of the exhibition, enhances the commercial value, meets the needs of various types of different people, and is the unique highlight of the National Convention and Exhibition Center. Three office buildings and a five-star hotel are located at the end of the four leaves of the National Convention and Exhibition Center. The National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai) Complex consists of four major parts, namely, exhibition halls, supporting commercial centers, office buildings and hotels, which are connected through the 8-meter-elevation Convention and Exhibition Boulevard, which can conveniently traverse the exhibition halls, commercial districts, office buildings, hotels and other venues.
Exhibition area
The complex can have an exhibition area of 500,000 square meters, including 400,000 square meters of indoor exhibition halls and 100,000 square meters of outdoor exhibition grounds. The indoor exhibition halls consist of 13 large exhibition halls with a unit area of 28,800 square meters and 3 small exhibition halls with a unit area of 10,000 square meters, which can meet the demand for exhibition space for large, medium and small-sized exhibitions in all aspects.Load-bearing capacity
The complex has a strong load-bearing capacity: the ground load of the five large double-storey exhibition halls on the first floor is 3.5T/m2, the ground load of the five large exhibition halls and two small exhibition halls on the second floor is 1.5T/m2, and the ground load of the three large exhibition halls and one small exhibition hall on the first floor's north piece is as high as 5T/m2, which makes it easy to load even the heavy machinery that has a high requirement for the load-bearing capacity of the exhibition halls.Exhibition space
The north section of the first floor of the complex is a single-story column-free exhibition hall, except for a large exhibition hall with a double-story structure. The net height of the single-floor exhibition hall is 32 meters; the column network of the south piece of the first floor exhibition hall is 27x36 meters, with a net height of 12 meters; the column network of the large exhibition hall on the second floor is 54x36 meters, with a net height of 17 meters. On the evening of October 15, 2014, the exhibition hall was test-lighted.
On October 19-21, 2014, the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai), the world's second-largest building monolith and exhibition complex in terms of area, will usher in the inaugural exhibition of trial operation, when the two north pavilions will host the China International Automobile Commodities Fair. According to the forecast of relevant departments, the average daily passenger flow will reach 50,000, and the peak hour passenger flow will be about 20,000 people. [3]
From March 11, 2015, all the pavilions of the National Convention and Exhibition Center have been put into use, including a series of exhibitions such as the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2015, which has been confirmed to be held here.

Ground level roads: Beidai Road/Tianshan Road/Xianxia West Road, Shenchang Road or Huaxiang Road - Songze Avenue - Zhuguang Road (west gate of the National Convention and Exhibition Center); Yan'an Road, West Yan'an Road - Shanghai-Qingping Highway - Zhuguang Road (west gate of the National Convention and Exhibition Center). Cabs will arrive at the west entrance of Zhuguang Road through Gate 20 to drop off passengers at the special lane outside the North Hall, and empty taxis will enter the designated area of the venue through Gate 18 to store cars.
