Handan enjoys excellent traffic conditions, and is located in the heart of the four provinces of Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and Henan and the Central Plains Economic Zone. It is the only mega-city in the border area of the four provinces, with a distance of about 211 kilometers from Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, Jinan and Zhengzhou, and within 511 kilometers from Beijing, Tianjin and other metropolises. Handan is one of the 179 important highway transportation hubs in China, with convenient transportation. It runs through Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Beijing-Shenzhen expressway and National Highway 117 in the north and south of China, and intersects with Changzhi-Handan-Jinan-Qingdao Railway, Qinglan expressway and National Highway 319 in the east and west of the mainland of China, forming a "five vertical and five horizontal" trunk road network. Handan International Airport is a national key development trunk airport, and has been opened to Shanghai, Chongqing and Dalian. Among the border areas of the four provinces, only Handan has the three-dimensional traffic conditions of railway crossing, national highway intersection, high-speed vertical and horizontal transit and airport.
