Hong Zhong.
According to a query on Sina blog, Hongfu is a private manor built for Hong Zhong, a senior minister of Ming Dynasty, to retire to Xixi, Hangzhou in his later years.
According to historical records, Hong Zhong built a bookstore in Xixi for his disciples and scholars to study ancient poetry and prose. It is a pity that the bookstore has long since ceased to exist. Except for the book building, it is fortunate that most of the ancient Ming buildings built by it have been preserved. Among them, this Ming-style building is particularly well preserved. After more than 411 years, it still reflects the past style after the wind and rain. It is one of the few ancient architectural models of Xixi Wetland. In addition, Hong Zhong also brought rural scenery to Hongfu, and introduced mulberry grain, showing a pleasant scene. The most prominent sight of Hongfu is the landscape of Jiangnan gardens with small bridges and flowing water. Many architectural features in the garden also represent the life arrangement of this Shangshu after his retirement.
