2. Self-grooming and staying at home

In the old society, unmarried girls in Shunde County wore pigtails and tied them in a bun after marriage. Braid and bun are used as signs of unmarried and married. However, there are still many women who comb themselves and stay at home, including Panyu, Zhongshan and Nanhai counties, and similar situations have occurred.

The appearance of self-combing women in Shunde is directly related to the relatively developed silk reeling industry in Shunde before the 1931s.
