COVID-19 positive virus appeared in frozen seafood imported many times. Can we still eat seafood in peace?
With the joint efforts of medical staff and everyone, the novel coronavirus epidemic in 2020 has been initially controlled, but the virus has not been completely eliminated. Frozen seafood imported from many places tested positive in COVID-19. Can we eat seafood safely?

Where are the imported seafood tested positive for COVID-19?

According to statistics, COVID-19 has been detected in imported salmon since July. COVID-19 was found in the inner wall and outer packaging of frozen South American white shrimp containers imported from Xiamen, Fujian, Dalian, Liaoning, Pingxiang, Jiangxi and Shapingba, Chongqing. On July 16, COVID-19 was detected in the outer surface sample of the packaging box of frozen Penaeus vannamei in Yunnan. On July 23rd, COVID-19 was detected in many food and environmental samples in cold storage, processing workshops, dormitories and canteens by Kaiyang Seafood Company in Dalian, Liaoning. In August, in Yantai, Shandong Province, COVID-19 was detected in the outer packaging samples of imported frozen seafood. On August 12, COVID-19 nucleic acid test results of frozen Ecuadorian shrimp packaging samples imported from Jinghu District 1 restaurant in Wuhu City were suspected to be positive.

Not only imported seafood was positive for COVID-19, but also the packaging of Brazilian frozen chicken wings imported from Shenzhen was positive for COVID-19 on August1/KLOC-0.

The statistical results are not comprehensive. There may be more imported seafood or other products with COVID-19, which will inevitably make people panic. Actually, you don't have to panic. As long as everyone protects it, it is still very safe. First, I suggest that you try not to buy and eat imported frozen products, and choose local seafood or poultry. Two, buy imported frozen products, wear gloves, and timely disinfection. Usually, COVID-19 is detected on the outer packaging of these imported frozen products, but there is no virus in the meat. Third, food should be heated at high temperature and cooked before eating. Raw and cooked food should be stored separately.

Finally, I hope that all localities will strengthen supervision over the inspection of imported frozen products, kill viruses at customs checkpoints and prevent products with viruses from entering the market.
