Origin of snail powder:
It first appeared in the late 1971s. There are many theories about the specific origin of snail powder, and there are two more reasonable ones. The first one is that in the mid-1981s, there was a grocery store on Jiefang South Road that also sold dry-cut powder. Every morning, the clerk took a handful of dry-cut powder to the screw stall next door to cook it. Later, someone bought vegetables to match it. The grandmother at the screw stall thought the powder was very delicious and sold snail powder.
The second argument is that in 1971s and 1981s, Gufu Street food market was the largest wholesale place for raw snails in Liuzhou, and later it formed Gufu Street night market. People in Liuzhou like eating snails and rice noodles very much. Sometimes night market owners cook snails and rice noodles at the same time. Some people like to add snail soup to rice noodles, which is the prototype of snail powder.
