Shapotou Tourist Area is located at the southeast edge of Tengger Desert in the west of zhongwei, Ningxia. East from Erdaogou south forest protection room, west to Toudaodun, and north to Tengger Desert. It extends 300-500m northeast to the periphery of Dingbei Wharf along the baseline of the second phase of the Three-North Shelterbelt Project, and borders the Yellow River in the south, with a length of about 38km and a width of about 5km, with an altitude of 1300- 1500m. The total area is 4599.3 hectares, accounting for 3.07% of the total land area of zhongwei. Shapotou Tourist Area is the first batch of AAAA-level tourist attractions in China, the first national desert ecological nature reserve, and the location of Shapotou, one of the three famous shaming bells in China. The fruitful sand control achievements were awarded the honorary title of "Top 500 Global Environmental Protection Units" by the United Nations 1994, and the "Special Award for Scientific and Technological Progress" by the State Council in the same year, which was called "Sand Capital" by the world. In 2004, it was awarded "Twenty Scenes of National Fitness" by the State Sports General Administration. On May 8, 2007, Shapotou Scenic Spot in Zhongwei was officially approved as a national 5A scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration.
