Alumni donations of Wuhan University are mainly used to support the "double first-class" construction, discipline development, personnel training, infrastructure construction and so on.

Chen Dongsheng, an alumnus of Wuhan University and founder of Taikang Insurance Group, donated 654.38 billion yuan to his alma mater to set up the "Chen Dongsheng Education Development Fund" to support the education of Wuhan University. In addition, Wuhan University has received a lot of donations from many other alumni, such as Li Xiaoming, founder of Parkway Financial Company and vice president of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., and Wu, vice president of Tencent.
