Windows Optimization Master: Desktop Menu Optimization

Many times, the optimization of menu speed gives us the most obvious feeling.

1. Optimizing the speed of the start menu can speed up the running speed of the start menu. It is recommended to adjust this item to the fastest speed in the adjustment bar.

2. The optimization of menu running speed can speed up the running speed of all menus. It is recommended to adjust this item to the fastest speed in the adjustment bar.

3. Optimizing the desktop icon cache can improve the display speed of icons on the desktop. This option is to set the maximum disk space occupied by the system's icon cache files. The adjustment range allowed by Windows is 100KB-4096KB, and the system default is 500KB. If the user's desktop icons are often messed up, it is recommended to adjust the value to 2000KB. When entering this page, Windows Optimization Master can detect how much icon cache the current system has used. It is recommended that users adjust the icon cache not to be lower than the size of the icon cache that has been used.

4. Rebuild the icon cache. In order to speed up the display, the Windows system will put the icons of all installed applications in the cache file. However, when the application has been deleted, the Windows system will not delete the icon of the application in the icon cache file. This function can help you reduce the size of the icon cache file, and it is recommended to use this function when the icon display becomes slow and the icon display is cluttered.

5. Turn off the start menu animation effect. Recommended choice. Note: This item of Windows Optimization Master under Windows Vista is merged into item 11.

6. Turn off the smooth scrolling effect. Recommended choice. Note: Windows Optimization Master does not provide this option under Windows Vista.

7. Accelerate the Windows refresh rate. This item actually allows Windows to have automatic refresh capabilities. Recommended choice. Note: Windows Optimization Master does not provide this option under Windows Vista.

8. MS Office 2000 smooth scrolling. For systems that do not have MS Office 2000 installed, this item is unselectable (gray). Users who have installed MS Office 2000 can choose this project to optimize MS Office 2000. Since new versions of Office have been continuously launched, the Windows Optimization Master under Windows2000/XP/2003/Vista has canceled this project and replaced it with item 9 below.

9. Disable the system from recording running programs, used paths and used documents. Selecting this option will prevent the system from logging program running, directory tracking, and document opening messages, thereby further improving system performance. It is recommended to select this manually and optimize it.

10. Let Windows use the traditional style start menu and desktop to save resource overhead. This option is valid for WindowsXP/Vista systems. Selecting this option will disable XP/Vista's unique start menu and desktop, and use a traditional style start menu and desktop similar to Windows 2000. It is recommended that users who are accustomed to traditional styles choose this option.

11. Turning off the Start menu animation effect will turn off the "Click to start here" animation prompt. Recommended choice. Note: Since this item is merged into item 5 of Windows Optimization Master under Windows Vista, when Windows Optimization Master is running under Vista, this item is displayed as "Turn off menu special effects and animation prompts".

12. Turn off visual effects such as animated display windows, menus, and lists. The function description of this option is as follows:

(1). For Windows 9X, Windows Optimization Master will turn off the animated display window, menu and list;

(2). For Windows 2000, In addition to closing the animated display window, menus and lists, the Windows Optimization Master will also turn off the fade-in and fade-out visual effects;

(3). For Windows XP/2003/Vista, the Windows Optimization Master will not only close the animated display window , menus and lists, and fade visual effects, it will also turn off menu shadow effects and show form content when dragging. It is highly recommended to select this item to save valuable system resources.

13. Create independent processes for the desktop and Explorer when starting the system. By default, Windows creates a multi-threaded Explorer process (including the desktop, taskbar, etc.), so that when one of them crashes, it will cause all other threads to crash. Select this option to create a multi-threaded Explorer process for the desktop, taskbar, etc. independent process. Note: For Windows9x users, if you select this option, the system will automatically open a "My Computer" window every time you turn on the computer. It is recommended that Windows9x users not select this option. Windows2000/XP/2003/Vista users can select this option to further improve system stability.

14. Automatically restart the interface when the Windows user interface or its components are abnormal. This option is only available when Windows Optimizer is running under Windows2000/XP/2003/Vista. Check this option. When an error occurs in the Windows user interface or one of its components, the Windows user interface will automatically reload. It is recommended to select this option.

Restart DWH:

This function can only be used under Windows Vista system.

1. Enable DWM special effects on computers that do not support Desktop Window Manager (DWM).

Windows Vista brings us a new Desktop Window Manager (DWM), through which we can achieve many form effects. However, Windows Vista will automatically detect whether the user's machine meets the requirements of DWM (for example, whether the graphics card supports DirectX 9, etc.) to decide whether to enable DWM special effects. Checking this option will allow Vista to turn on its special effects without automatically detecting whether the system supports DWM.

Note: After checking this option, forcibly turning on special effects will consume a certain amount of system resources, which may lead to adverse consequences such as decreased system performance. Wopti does not recommend users to choose this option.

2. Close the elongated form button style of Desktop Form Manager (DWM).

Windows Vista provides us with two form button styles through DWM, elongated (Elonggated) and ordinary. Checking this option will turn off the elongated style.

3. Turn off the Desktop Form Manager (DWM) form animation effects.

Checking this option will turn it off. Windows Vista provides animation effects through DWM, such as window maximization or minimization, etc.

4. Restart DWM. DWM-related options need to be restarted to take effect after being changed.

Note: After setting the DWM, the user can directly click Restart DWM to take effect immediately.

Restore:

Restore desktop optimization settings to Windows default settings, click "Restore"

A prompt will pop up. If you want to restore to Windows default settings, click "OK"; otherwise click "Cancel"
