Adequate sunshine is needed during the flowering period of pregnant buds, so mint should not be planted in a cool place.
If March-April in spring and 9- 10 in autumn are suitable for sowing, because the seeds are very small, they should be sown in the seedbed or hole tray first. After the seedlings germinate, they need to be thinned for 2-3 times in the growth period, and then transplanted into pots or fields when the height of the seedlings is 6- 10 cm. The planting period of rhizome is similar to that of seed sowing. Cut the rhizome into 6- 10 cm long segments and plant it in three ways: sowing, strip planting and hole planting. Water is needed to promote survival after planting.
Mint likes a warm and humid environment with plenty of sunshine and rainfall. Rootstocks can germinate at 5-6℃, and the optimum growth temperature of plants is 20-30℃. Have strong cold tolerance. The soil for planting mint is loose and fertile sandy soil with good drainage.
Water has a great influence on the growth and development of mint, and plants need more water in the early and middle stages of growth. Blooming in bud stage requires sunny and dry weather and less water demand.
The propagation of mint can be achieved by ramets or cuttings. During the growing season (preferably from spring to summer), it is very easy to cut the stem into sections and take root.
Mint can also be propagated by roots, strings and seeds. The latter two methods grow slowly, are easy to mutate and are generally used less. Propagation with rhizomes can be carried out in spring or before winter, with spring sowing mostly from late March to early April and winter sowing around the end of 10.
It is best to plant mint while planing to prevent the roots from drying up. If it needs to be shipped abroad, it should be packed in gunny bags. After the roots of mint are planed out, select new roots with short, fat and yellow-white stems and cut them into 6- 10 cm segments, each segment should have 3-4 stems. In the border, the line spacing is 30-35cm, and the width is 5-6cm deep.
In the ditch, plant the roots in a pier of 17 ~ 20 cm, with 2 ~ 3 plants in each pier, then cover it firmly and water it immediately.
