Boiling eggs with shepherd's purse, grabbing fireworks, throwing hydrangeas, eating five-color glutinous rice, singing, playing bronze drums, touching eggs and eating black rice are all traditional customs of Shangsi Festival.

The third day of the third lunar month, also known as Shangsi Festival, is a traditional festival of the Chinese nation, with Han, Zhuang, Miao and Yao as typical examples. In addition to important traditional customs, there is also a widely spread custom on March 3, called "boiled eggs with shepherd's purse on March 3", which is also commonly known as local dishes.

A rural proverb says that eating shepherd's purse on March 3 rd: boiled eggs with local vegetables will crush stones, which means that after eating shepherd's purse on March 3 rd, your body will become stronger and stronger, strong enough to crush stones.

The origin of March 3: Fuxi and Xuanyuan Huangdi

The origin of "March 3" can be traced back to the Fu era. Fuxi and his sister, Nu Wa, unearthed human beings to reproduce. Fuxi is honored as "the ancestor of mankind" in eastern Henan. In today's Huaiyang (the capital of Fuxi) in Henan, people also built the ancient temple of Taihaoling. From February 2nd to March 3rd in the lunar calendar, the Temple Fair of Taihaoling, where men believe in women, and people from south to north, gathered in the mausoleum area to worship their ancestors.

According to legend, March 3rd is the birthday of the Yellow Emperor. China has had "On February 2nd, the dragon looked up; I was born in Xuanyuan on March 3rd. Xuanyuan Huangdi is regarded as the ancestor of Chinese humanities and the common ancestor of Chinese descendants. In order to commemorate the merits of the Yellow Emperor, later generations hold various ancestor worship activities in the hometown of the Yellow Emperor on the third day of March every year.
