1932 The Commercial Press was bombed, resulting in a loss of1630,000 yuan, more than 80% of the assets were destroyed, and 450,000 ancient books collected by the Oriental Library were reduced to ashes. 1937 Nankai university library was bombed and burned. Most of the surviving books were taken to Japan, and1000000 China thread-bound books disappeared.
After the Japanese bombed the Shanghai Commercial Press on 1932, a Japanese officer expressed the original intention of the bombing in a paragraph: If I bombed several streets in Zhabei, China, China people could cover them in half a year, and only by bombing the Commercial Press can China people not turn over!
