Changshu, Jiangsu, the Hometown of Steamed Vegetables in China
After material review, on-the-spot investigation, theme exchange, investigation and evaluation, China Cuisine Association confirmed on April 14 that Changshu met the relevant certification standards, and officially became the third "China Steamed Vegetable Town" in China after Tianmen in Hubei and Liuyang in Hunan.

There is a touching legend in Changshu folk: According to legend, eight immortals, including Zhang, Han Xiangzi, Han Zhongli, Cao Guojiu, Lan Caihe and He Xiangu, visited Changshu folk and saw that the dishes on the table of the people were few and monotonous, so each immortal personally cooked and served eight kinds of dishes based on local materials and the menu of Tiangong Restaurant. In order to let the people taste the same dish at the same time, in the cooking operation, the fine workmanship of Tiangong Restaurant was changed to steaming directly in a cauldron. Fried fish with chrysanthemum, jade brick, lucky money, golden house, white sauce and silver feet, fairy grass chicken, three pieces of chicken soup and south leg duck have become the eight most famous steamed dishes in Changshu.

Changshu steamed cuisine is an important part of Changshu food culture and the first signature dish of Changshu local cuisine.
