The story of eating fast in Nanyue
When I joined the army in Hengyang, I went to Nanyue many times. Once, my friends and I filed out of Jinsui Mountain Villa, and the cool mountain breeze and the new Sanskrit were on the way. We climbed the mountain to watch the sunrise, then got into Nanyue Temple to watch the monks kneeling and chanting with their hands folded, and then turned around the Mojingtai, the Sutra Collection Platform and Magu Wonderland near the top of Zhu Rong, visited the Buddhist temple, saw the mountains, the water and the tourists. "Let's eat vegetarian food!" Everyone shouted and rushed to Zhu Rong Temple.

Zhu Rong Temple is the commanding height of Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue. This is a lonely stone temple that has stood for hundreds of years. Incense is burning day by day, and there is an endless stream of good men and women. The incense burner on the wide stone street is smoky and dark, and the words "Amitabha Buddha in the south" are engraved on the wall in front of the temple. It is written by Mr. Zhao Puchu, the president of the Chinese Buddhist Association and a famous calligrapher. Introduction, covered with the courtyard shade of ancient camphor trees, came to the vegetarian restaurant in Dong Ze. Blue bricks and bright tiles, red lacquer round table, white porcelain bodhisattva sitting on the niche lotus platform and smiling at people. The elegant Buddhist realm is exquisite.

The vegetarian meal was ordered half a month ago. Vegetarian food in South Guangdong has always been well-known, and pilgrims are flooding in every day. You can't eat it without ordering in advance. Zen master Da Yue, vice president of Nanyue Buddhist Association, wore a gray robe with a thin face and sparse hair. He went to the table and introduced us to the origin of vegetarian food in temples.

The history of people being vegetarian can be traced back to before the invention of fire. "Mozi Ci Guo" said: "In the Western Zhou Dynasty, vegetarianism became an independent recipe system, which originated from the fasting diet of slave owners in the Western Zhou Dynasty when they sacrificed to ghosts and gods." The Book of Rites says: "Qi (fasting) forbids engaging in ghosts and gods." Temple vegetarian dishes, as a branch of vegetarian food, originated from the temple incense kitchen in the Western Jin Dynasty. Monks live by growing and eating vegetables. In the Southern Dynasties, Xiao Yan, a Buddhist Liang Wudi, personally promulgated the imperial edict of "Stop Drinking and Be Soft", forbidding monks to drink while eating vegetables. Since then, the custom of fasting in temples has remained unchanged. By the Ming and Qing Dynasties, temples and temples had formed a pedigree of dishes with a wide variety and unique flavor.

? Just then, two monks came. The first course is called "Nothing". Someone asked, "Is' sensuality and wealth' empty?" Zen master Da Yue shook his head, pointed to the chicken-shaped dish in the bowl with chopsticks and said, "All four are empty.". In Buddhism, the four concepts refer to earth, fire, water and wind. And this vegetarian dish is made of dried tofu, commonly known as' vegetarian chicken', and because it has no head, legs, hair and internal organs, isn't it' four empty'? " It dawned on us after listening.

The second course is "Luohan Party". Oily little mushrooms piled high, mixed with jade bamboo shoots and diced trees. Eat, it's delicious, and it will bottom out in an instant. Companion Xiao Wu sighed: "Luohan's party has turned into a dinner party, and it is a sin to eat all the' little monks'!" This happened to be heard by the young monk who served the food. He laughed with us. The third course is called "Rest for 1000 years". Black beans and peppers are covered with pot mushrooms, and the whole disk is piled up in the shape of a turtle. The companion joked while picking vegetables: "You have rested for thousands of years, and I will kill you!" They laughed again. The fourth course is small bamboo shoots, which are called "Guanyin bamboo shoots" by South Vietnamese and "Happy Family" by the local people. This bamboo shoot is tender and crisp, and everyone loves it. The fifth course is named by Da Yue himself, and it is called "Nodding on Hard Rock", which is a dessert made of fried tofu and raw flour. Master Da Yue explained, "Nodding at the rocks shows the power of Buddhist influence. This square block of raw bean curd looks like a stone. When you clip, you often click with chopsticks. Isn't it a stubborn stone nodding? " They cheered together and said. The sixth course is vegetarian fish, which looks like braised silver carp. I didn't know it was cooked with eggplant until I ate it, which is known as "the sea will connect the pond". The seventh course is a big plate of braised pork. As soon as the bowl was opened, the "meat" was cut into squares, red and shiny. When you poke it, it will rot. It turned out to be stewed with wax gourd. The name of this dish is "incredible". The eighth course is "clean and spotless", a bowl of lotus seed soup. The last dish is fried Chili, called "Purdue sentient beings". Friends who don't eat spicy food like it best. Although it was not hot on the mountain, we all sweated and applauded. The vegetarian dishes in Nanyue are unforgettable. ...
