In Yunnan, the twelfth lunar month is the busiest and most lively day every year, because after the twelfth lunar month, there will be an important dinner, that is, "killing pig rice."

"Killing pig rice" is actually not a specific day. Every household will choose a good day in the twelfth lunar month, kill the big fat pig they have fed, make a rich "pig-killing rice" and invite friends and relatives to taste it at home.

"Killing pig rice" is mostly concentrated in several provinces near Yunnan, but the most authentic "killing pig rice" is still in Yunnan. Every family with conditions will raise a local pig in advance, and only feed pig grass, fruits, wild vegetables and whole grains for one year, two years or even three years. This kind of pork tastes the most original.

Because of national customs and regional differences, the ceremony of killing pig rice in different regions is different. Usually, the host family will tell the people in the stockade to eat pig-killing rice one day in advance. Early the next morning, several able-bodied men began to kill pigs.
