"Li", also known as "Li", was recorded in the Book of Changes as early as today, which is similar to the "red envelope" that we often say today. According to the legend of Wulin, on the last night of the Lantern Festival, the magistrate of Lin 'an in the Southern Song Dynasty would gather citizens in the street and issue "Li" to vendors, calling on them to start work. Song people often say that "benefiting the market" can be "prosperous business" or "rewarding wealth", and it also contains the wishes of "auspiciousness" and "making a fortune". Combine these three meanings: give businessmen a "profit market" and wish them a prosperous business in the new year, that is, "it is beneficial to start a business"
The time for Song people to do "profit-making" was slightly different from today. At present, we get the "initial profit", usually on the seventh and eighth day of the first month, because the date of construction after the year is the seventh and eighth day of the first month, while the merchants in the Song Dynasty get the "initial profit" on the fifth night of the Lantern Festival.
