What are the contraindications of peritoneal dialysis?
Absolute contraindication: (1) various abdominal diseases lead to the decrease of peritoneal clearance rate;

(2) Patients with extensive abdominal infection or severe burns cannot be intubated.

Relative contraindications: (1) The wound does not heal within 3 days after abdominal surgery, and the incision leaks during peritoneal dialysis;

(2) There are localized inflammatory foci in peritoneum, and peritoneal dialysis can spread inflammation;

(3) In the third trimester of pregnancy or huge tumor in abdominal cavity, the effect of peritoneal dialysis is not ideal due to the decrease of abdominal cavity volume;

(4) Vascular diseases in abdominal cavity, such as vasculitis, severe arteriosclerosis and scleroderma, will reduce dialysis efficiency;

(5) Severe respiratory insufficiency, and excessive liquid intake will aggravate respiratory insufficiency. For example, the amount of liquid infiltrating into the abdomen is less;

(6) Long-term protein and insufficient calorie intake are not suitable for long-term peritoneal dialysis, because peritoneal dialysis loses more than 6 grams of protein every day.
