Guawazi refers to Chongqing, which is one of the pet words of people in some places in Sichuan. They are not sure whether to praise or criticize, whether they are fools or make fun of close people. At the same time, in Sichuan dialect, melon can also be used as an adjective, which is equivalent to "stupid" and "stupid". Chengdu people say who is a melon wretched may have the following three meanings: this person is a fool and has mental problems; Second, this person is not smart and knows the clock better; Third, this man is his favorite person, and Guawazi is his nickname.

Sichuanese always like to use the word "Wa" when addressing others, such as calling boys "boys" and girls "girls". Relatives and friends will call close people "Zhang Sanwa" and "Li Dawa".

The origin of nouns

The word "Guawazi" first appeared completely in the printed text of Shulai 1930, and collected more than 5,000 Sichuan dialect words and idioms. It is recorded in the book that "Guawazi has a blessing" and "Guawazi has a blue sky on his head", which used to exist only in the spoken language of Sichuanese.

There are "four catchwords" in Sichuan population, which have become the symbolic vocabulary of Sichuan dialect. In many TV dramas and literary works, whenever Sichuanese appear, they will say a few words of "Laozi", "Turtle Son" and "Hammer". Interestingly, the first Sichuan dialect learned by almost every foreigner is the most representative "Guawazi".
