He was in charge of underwear, food, housing and transportation, and had been in charge of court banquets. In his later years, he sorted out the palace recipes he had written down for many years. In Yangshe Hutong in Houhai, Beijing, there is a "high-class" restaurant called Lijia Restaurant. In a small courtyard with no sign except the house number (1 1), a signboard of "Li Family Cuisine" was hung on the wall, and the inscription was written by Pu Jie, the younger brother of the last emperor Puyi.
Former US Treasury Secretary Rubin and former British Prime Minister Major have all visited here, and domestic celebrities such as Jin Yong, Mei Baojiu and Jackie Chan have also been guests of Li Jiacai.
One of the characteristics of Li Jiacai is that it does not use chemical raw materials such as monosodium glutamate, and the seasoning depends entirely on natural methods. There are no modern kitchen utensils in the restaurant, all are stoves. As a kind of "court flavor dish", it requires fine selection of materials and fine workmanship.
Li Jia cooks only dinner every day. If you want to eat it, you must make a reservation a few days in advance. For this table, the whole family should prepare from morning till night until the guests come. Another difference between this restaurant and other restaurants is that ordering food is not allowed here, and you can eat whatever the host does. Even so, people still come here.
